Paris: T-13 days – Goodbye Tacoma

In another step of disconnection, we offloaded the truck today.

It’s the first time we ever dealt with Carvana. Those people are crazy! They gave us $7,500 for a 19 year old 4WD Toyota Tacoma with 168k miles on it. We paid $28k for it in 2007, so to get 27% after 19 years is phenomenal. And it’s a stinkin’ stick shift! It took all of ten minutes to get in and out of Carvana. Cleanest sale I’ve ever experienced. I give Carvana six stars out of five. How are these people staying in business?

We will miss the truck dearly, since it’s been a part of so many of our adventures. Although it’s been reliable, I’ve been growing less comfortable taking it into sketchy places. Much like myself, it hasn’t broken down…but the probability has increased.

If there’s ever an other side to this adventure, the Tacoma’s replacement will be a Rivian R2.

In another week we offload the Tesla, which will be incredibly painful. Yeah, Elon’s an asshole, but his cars are amazing. We have FSD, which, Just. Plain. Works. It was a party trick when we first got the car, but it’s improved to the point we now use it all the time. Jeri and I were talking today that eventually we’re going to have to get another one, if only for the FSD. Maybe Elon will be less of an asshole by then.

Farewell my trusted steed
